New Fly Fisherman

Hi Bill,

I went fishing today with a friend on the Warner River by the Waterloo covered bridge and caught this brook trout on a brass bead head nymph by drifting the fly along a seam between fast and slow water and around a rock. It was awesome.

I didn't catch any other fish, but that may have been because I didn't fish any other bead heads... Live and learn. Casting went well today. As you will imagine, we were not doing very long casts, but it was nice to be able to get the fly to different points on the river and work the water like you talked about. Also, not very many tree or rod knots today. Remembered to keep my hands apart, slow down, pause, and look at where I am casting to. It felt good.

In any case, thank you again for your time and instruction last week and know that your student has had at least one success!

Regards,

Hank
